More than 40 journalists, librarians, information professionals, citizens, students and consultants have signed up so far for Open Missouri Day March 17 at the Reynolds Journalism Institute.

It’s great to see so many people who are interested in learning about finding and getting data from state and local government agencies.

Bill Allison, the editorial director for the Sunlight Foundation in Washington, D.C., is set to deliver the morning keynote about how to tap into the deepening well of digital government information.

After that,  journalists will show how news organizations in the Show-Me State are using state and local government data in their reporting and on the web. Open-government advocates and government insiders will share best practices for successfully using the Sunshine Law to obtain data.

If you have a stake in open government in Missouri, I urge you to join us. You don’t need to be a journalist. Open Missouri Day is free and you can register here.

We’re hoping you can make it and help us make Missouri more open for all of us.
