The Center for Advanced Social Research (CASR) is a survey research unit associated with the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri and with the Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI). It provides social science research services to government agencies, academic institutions, national foundations, media organizations and community organizations on a fee basis. During the past 10 years, CASR has established itself as a quality research organization and continues to focus on quality of research design and data collection to satisfy various research needs of its clients. CASR provides the following services:
- Computer-assisted telephone interviewing
- Content analysis
- Web survey
- Mail survey
- Face-to-face interviewing
- Focus group discussions and interpretations
- Various sampling designs
- Survey instrument development and testing
- Data processing
- Database development and maintenance
- Statistical analyses
- Report writing
Kenneth Fleming is director of CASR. He has abundant hands-on experience in research design, sampling, data collection and statistical analyses. He also has done extensive program evaluation studies in public health, health communication, associational membership and media effects. In his dual responsibility as director of research for RJI, he has recently played an important role in the studies of Online Journalism Credibility in cooperation with the Associated Press Managing Editors, The Opinion Pool with the National Conference of National Editors, and The Community Newspaper Survey with the National Newspaper Association.
