Ken Doctor gave the opening keynote presentation on Dec. 10 titled "Tablets 2011: Which Games Will They Change?" Ken is a leading news industry analyst, a former Knight-Ridder editor and K-R Digital vice president, and the author of "Newsonomics: Twelve New Trends That Will Shape the News You Get."

A New Modality for Digital Publishing: Follow up to Richard Saul Wurman’s challenge at the SND Workshop in Denver on Sept. 25 that newspapers and magazines need to think in a new way about their presentations of content on the iPad and other tablets.

News Consumption on the iPad: Results of national iPad surveys conducted by RJI, The Associated Press and other organizations. What do they tell us about the ways people are consuming news on the iPad and other tablets?

What Can We Expect to See in 2011? Insights on next generation iPads, competing Android tablets, subscription-based news apps, new production tools and processes, enhanced e-readers, and possible surprises.

Challenging Apple's Hegemony Over Apps: How are publishers dealing with subscription-based apps, censorship of content, sharing of revenue and data, and other issues?

Topics for the DPA meeting on Saturday morning included goals for 2011, follow-up iPad research questions, and a financial review.
