Hack the Future of Journalism

Social journalism hackathon

Saturday, May 31, 2014 - Sunday, June 1, 2014 0 Comments

Teams of developers, journalists and innovative thinkers will tackle challenge questions that seek to discover new tools, business models and news services that deliver context-rich, real-time social journalism to users across digital platforms. Hackathon participants will be supported by mentors from media, investment and technology communities through workshops, demonstrations and one-on-one conversations.

Join in the hackathon conversation with #RJIhacks.

Why:

Social media and other new technologies have forever changed the news industry. Yet while so much innovation has enabled consumers to create and consume news, little attention has been paid to journalists who do the hard work of bringing context to news. This hackathon will explore tools for helping journalists leverage social media and archived content to deliver accurate and thought-provoking news in real time that helps create a smarter, more informed citizenry.

Where:

KQED Studios
2601 Mariposa St. (between Bryant and York)
San Francisco, CA 94110
