"Mizzou symposium to explore FCC local news report," The Republic, November 15, 2011.

Columbia, Mo. — A federal report that found shortcomings in local news coverage is the subject of a Tuesday symposium at the University of Missouri's Reynolds Journalism Institute.

The Federal Communications Commission report recommended spending more federal advertising money on local news media, easing tax rules for nonprofit news organizations and changing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The FCC regulates television broadcasters.
