Anne's Game Salon: Learning can be fun!

By Anne Derryberry on October 1, 2010 0 Comments Ideas

Online games are more than a means for entertainment.  Games tell stories.  Games teach.  Games engage.  Games persuade.

Reynolds fellows, Anne Derryberry, game salon, game and news
Hybrid Learning's Eric Brown leads a discussion on applied gaming in RJI's TechTesting Center while Anne Derryberry looks on.

BUT….Can games tell the news?  Can games teach journalism?  Can games help with reporting?

If you want to find out the answers to these interesting questions join Reynolds Fellow Anne Derryberry as she explores what games can contribute to journalism and how games can help teach students who want to better their journalism skills.

Come out and play some entertaining games and discuss tactics and skills with other gamers.

The Game Salon will be (mostly) every Tuesday in Walter Williams Hall and will consist of a variety of games and special guests.  Past guests have included Kris Rockwell and Eric Brown of Hybrid Learning.

WHAT: Anne's Game Salon
WHERE: RJI Technology Testing Center, Walter Williams Hall
WHEN: Tuesdays from 5-7pm
WHY:  Because games are fun (and educational!)

Everyone is invited!
