"Chance Wins POYi's Emerging Vision Incentive," PDN Pulse, June 17, 2010
Photographer James Chance has won POYi's Emerging Vision Incentive, a new $10,000 grant that POYi organizers announced in April. The grant is intended to support documentary projects of social importance by aspiring photojournalists.
Chance won for his project called "Living With the Dead," about the hundreds of poverty-stricken residents living in Manila's North Cemetery. Chance will use the grant to fund two or three trips over the next year to the Philippines to continue working on the story. He will focus on particular multi-generational families living in the cemetery, and how they eke out a living.
