COLUMBIA - Apple launched its new iPad Wednesday and MU academics are already exploring ways to use the new gadget to teach.

The iPad is a tablet-style computer that makes reading books, playing games, and watching videos easier than a laptop or smart phone.

The Reynolds Journalism Institute at MU held a live blogging session at noon today when Apple announced the product. Students and faculty discussed new possiblities for using the iPad to share content.

Associate Dean of the Missouri School of Journalism, Brian Brooks sees potential student benefits in one new iPad feature -- the iBook. Much like iTunes, which allows users to download music and video, the iBook application lets publishers share reading material...

Mentioned later in the article is 2009-2010 Reynolds Fellow Sean Reily:

"They took the first step. What this will do with Apple is take it one giant step foward in terms of consumer awareness."
