Welcome to the first installment of an occasional feature on the Mobile Media blog: "Smart phone Snapshot." The premise is simple: I ask people working in journalism why they have certain apps on the home screen of their smart phones.
First up is Will Sullivan, self-anointed "Nerd-in-chief" of Journerdism.com (and an occasional contributor to Poynter's E-Media Tidbits blog). He is also the interactive director of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and a fellow at the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute, where he is studying mobile journalism.
Sullivan carries a Google Nexus One (rooted with CyanogenMod 6.0, which is based on Froyo 2.2). Here's what he told me via e-mail about his apps:
Paperdroid: Built to use Read It Later's API for reading longer or more technical pieces I find on the Internet. I have hundreds of articles tagged in here, and this app is very handy for maximizing efficiency and helping me keep up on my reading during downtime.
