ROGER FIDLER, Program Director/Digital Publishing at the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri, will be among the more than 40 presenters in Denver. We fired a few questions his way:
SND: Your presentation will focus on digital content for tablets and e-readers, and its implications for news design. A lot of us have iPhones and we've seen the iPad and similar devices -- what haven't we seen that has you excited? Is there a future for designers (those designing today's newspapers and websites) on these platforms or is it the domain of programmers?
FIDLER: News design and programming appear to be converging. News designers might not need to write code, but they will need to understand and participate in the designing of algorithms that automate the production of digital content products and they will need to master an array of new design and programming tools.
