Doreen Marie Marchionni
Researcher and Consultant in Sasquatch Media ConsultingDr. Doreen Marie Marchionni (Ph.D ’09, Missouri School of Journalism) is a researcher and consultant specializing in journalism as a conversation, particularly how it relates to perceived credibility and authority. For her doctorate, she explicated the concept of conversational journalism via a series of online news experiments. Prior to earning her doctorate, she worked mostly as an editor in newspapers in the Pacific Northwest for 17 years, most recently at The Seattle Times. Esther Thorson
Associate Dean for the Graduate Studies and Research, Missouri School of JournalismIn addition to her role at MU, Esther Thorson serves as the director of research for the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute. Thorson has published more than 100 scholarly pieces on news effects and has headed grant and research contracts totaling nearly $3 million. She is the recipient of the American Advertising Federation’s Distinguished Advertising Education Award, the American Academy of Advertising’s Outstanding Contribution to Research Award and the Missouri Curator’s Award for Scholarly Excellence.
