This two-day conference at the Reynolds Journalism Institute taught journalism educators about the impact of trauma on individuals and communities, how to build resilience through reporting and provide hands-on help in creating units or standalone courses and capstone classes on trauma. Participants walked away with a deeper knowledge of the dynamics of trauma and resilience, the elements of self care, and how to navigate classroom discussions of some of the most sensitive topics journalists encounter in their work. The conferece was held at the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism Oct. 15-17 in partnership with the Dart Center for Trauma and Journalism and MU's Disaster and Community Crisis Center.
