Journalist-cartoonist Dan Archer renders possibilities for digital journalism
Not all cartoons show smiling faces and singing birds.Digital journalist Dan Archers work proves just that. Archer takes a unique approach to his storytelling. He takes pen to paper and illustrates the worlds of his sources, transforming their story into something (almost) resembling something you could find on your coffee table. His reporting, rooted in a careful hand, artistic eye and deep understanding of thorough information gathering, connects continents and opens doors to topics often too hard for many to talk about. Archer uses graphic journalism to tell non-fiction stories.
Archer uses traditional reporting techniques and strategies, but instead of turning a video ready for broadcast or dozens of inches in text, he uses comics to tell his characters stories.
