Sarah Springer, RYOT

Sarah SpringerSarah Springer is a documentary filmmaker and journalist. Although she may have grown up in the small city of Bakersfield, California, she managed to evolve into a world traveler. So much so that after studying abroad in Spain while at the University of Southern California, it didn’t take long after graduation for her to travel to Ethiopia, Africa, where she filmed her first documentary on the healthcare system there. Her rich heritage coupled with her zest for life and love for people has led her to her work in storytelling. Although Spring has been writing and reporting since high school, it was in Africa where she found her passion for documentary film. Since then she’s received a master’s degree from New York University, worked at CNN where she reported stories about race and identity in America, has worked at ABC, CBS, VICE Media and currently works as a creative content producer for RYOT. She is passionate about film and media and hopes to promote inclusion in these spaces through Minorities in Digital Media, an organization she co-founded in April 2016. She also serves on the board for a nonprofit organization supporting orphans in Ethiopia.
