This week we launch the Open the Room Project, which provides community journalists, citizen activists and town administrators with step-by-step directions to build a scalable, affordable system for streaming public meetings, events and sporting contests. -

Eight fellowships have been awarded for the 2016-2017 academic year by the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute. The projects range from emerging technologies and watchdog journalism to community engagement and navigating new business models. -

The high schools won gear bags for their classrooms from MobileVideoDIY, a newly launched mobile-video resource of RJI. The bags include a microphone, pre-amplifier, microphone cord, tripod and smartphone mount.
