Tom Teves - The impact of trauma on individuals and families from Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI)

Tom Teves, father of Alex Teves, who was murdered in the Aurora, Colorado, movie theater shootings, discussed the impact of trauma on individuals and families at "Trauma Journalism: Training for Educators" on Oct. 16, 2015.

Alex died protecting his girlfriend, Amanda, and had just received a master’s degree in counseling psychology when his life was taken. Tom and his wife, Caren, have launched a campaign called “No Notoriety” to persuade the media to minimize the use of shooters’ names, images and manifestos or other statements to reduce the “contagion” effect of such publicity.

Tom and his wife live in Phoenix, Ariz., with their surviving children.
